Unlock Your Inner Harmony with
Internal Family Systems Coaching
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative, evidence-based therapeutic modality that empowers healing by recognizing and addressing the various parts of your personality. Each part has its own unique perspective, feelings, memories, and viewpoint.
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? “
— Mary Oliver
When we peer inside ourselves, we often discover a complex network of emotions and beliefs, sometimes at odds with one another. It’s like having an internal family squabbling with each other, pulling us in different directions. It can feel chaotic in there!
Have you ever wanted to make a change, only to feel like an invisible force is holding you back?
That’s not just your imagination—it’s a common human experience, and it’s something that Internal Family Systems (IFS) Coaching can help you with.
We’re not all one thing; we have many parts of ourselves wanting different things. And spoiler alert: All parts are trying to help you; they’re just misguided in how they’re going about it.
Take the Inner Critic for example:
Instead of fighting it (which you may have noticed just subdues it for a while until it pops up again!) have you ever tried to sit and listen to it with curiosity? Maybe even a little playfulness?
You might be surprised to hear how it’s trying to protect you from failure and humiliation!
These parts may have taken on extreme roles at challenging times your life, and haven’t yet gotten the message that it’s ok to change roles and not work so hard.
Once we get to know our parts with compassion and curiosity, they soften back, transforming into helpful allies.
The result is, more Harmony and less Discord in your inner world!
“Thank you for doing what you do and doing it so well! It is clear how much you care about and believe in your work. I am grateful to be benefiting from your hard work, dedication, wisdom, generosity and extreme kindness and compassion!"
What is the difference between mindfulness-based transformational coaching and traditional talk therapy?
Unlike traditional therapy, which often focuses on telling the story, mindfulness-based coaching focuses on the story beneath the story:
How is the story impacting your nervous system? Are you within your Window of Tolerance (or, in IFS, your Self Energy); your feeling of ok-ness? Or are you taken over by a less peaceful (i.e. angry, judgmental, jealous) part of you?
Are you seeing the story with clarity? (“Do I know this to be true?”)
What emotions are you feeling and how are they expressing themselves in your body?
Is your body feeling tight and contracted as you tell the story? Or is it relaxed and spacious?
What are the extra thoughts your mind is creating around the story, and how are they contributing to a feeling of ok-ness or not-ok-ness?
Often what we’re reacting to has very little to do with what’s actually happening in the moment, and a lot to do with what our bodies and minds are unconsciously holding from the past.
Our Inner Children might be running the show without our knowledge. Once we bring these Insights Out, we are able to be with these inner children in a gentle, kind way, healing them and releasing them of old beliefs they may be holding onto.

How IFS Works: The Main Players That Live Inside of Us
Managers: These proactive parts try to keep you safe from harm and emotional pain. They handle your day-to-day life and keep things running smoothly.
Exiles: These wounded vulnerable parts carry pain and trauma from past experiences. They are often suppressed (exiled) by the managers to prevent their emotions from surfacing.
Firefighters: These reactive parts respond when exiled emotions break through; these parts attempt to extinguish, numb, or soothe inner pain, often through impulsive behaviors like overeating, overdrinking, overscrolling….
The SELF is the essence of who you are, the You who is not a part!
When the parts learn to trust you as a kind, caring parental SELF, they get out of the driver’s seat and let you lead your life with wisdom and clarity.
